Never regret, keep moving

How do you pick up the threads of a turbulent past? How do you carry on when instinctively you begin to understand there's no reversing back? You've probably had some heavy meal for lunch and it's slowly taking it's toll on you. Your stomach rumbles, your eye lids begin to close and you soon begin to resemble nothing but a grown lazy pig in a puddle of water. The boss is out of the building and so you resort to spend the whole afternoon doing much of nothing. But just before siesta can get the best of you, a text comes in, and the phone remains in your hands. One thing leads to the next and now it's evident all your attention is bent on the gadget. You qiuickly click on the blue icon with the letter 'f' engraved on it. Well you are now on facebook. And you realize you hav'nt been online for the past two weeks or so and theres alot you have missed on the cyber space. You scroll down gently and boom!! there goes Sharon's photo seated next to a gentlema

Show respect to all

It's indeed amazing how we often treat people we dim lesser than ourselves with contempt, but find the reverse completely unpalatable. Nobody deserves to be looked down upon no matter how desperate they would appear to be and infact looks can be deceiving at times. So today I was at a local store in town just buying a few items. All seemed calm and at peace, with everyone doing just what had brought them in there. The traffic was bigger than usual and that's something to worry about if you are time conscious. The lines at the till were miserably long and this is where things would take a dramatic twist and I was lucky enough to have grabbed a front row seat. I held back my horses and became a bit more patient than usual but it appears some other clients had far more sinister agendas. Now a middle aged lad dared to overlap and get to the counter before everyone else. Little did he know that there was a guy who had a similar problem like his, but had apparently sacrificed to line

Let the holidays begin

The clock ticks, and I can't wait to get back home and just relax and count myself lucky for having completed this semester. I'm so impatient, but I'll have to wait since the exams will mark the ultimate homestretch. Now this has been a long expedition dating back to september last year. It has been a marvelous time at school, both with friends and foes. This academic year was decorated with so much activity. It started on a high note with eight units to cover and honestly it's been the busiest period i've ever witnessed since I joined campus. Lots of assignments and those random quizes, for those who know what i'm talking about. I also can't forget to mention the elevated complexity of courses taken this time round. New tuitors on the block too, now it really takes time to adjust to their tact and get in their good books. Its been long and tedious having to put up with classes nearly each day of the week, starting as early as 7AM or 8AM. We literally had tw

Dala sevens weekend

Lets just say it's terribly hard not to talk about certain things. The weekend is meant for relaxation and  merriment, as we take a brief break from the daily routine of waking up and getting busy all day at work. Now my weekends are often pre occupied with lots of activities, but it's almost inevitable for me to miss out on a rugby gig especially when it's within the vicinity. It's indeed amazing how rugby has gained immense popularity, almost dwarfing football which is traditionally considered the people's game here in kenya. This years dala  sevens was not as impressive at least according to what I had personally expected. It was just but a miserable letdown, I've been lucky enough to attend the past editions but I must admit that this particular event did not live up to my expectations. I just don't seem to understand why the tournament had to be hosted at Kisumu showground in the first place. The venue is a bit far from the CBD and you'll have to co

Celebrating a hero

It's always hard to say goodbye especially to persons you have become so fond of. At first i could'nt stomach the thought of this beautiful story coming to an end but i've learnt to embrace the fact that everything happens precisely for a reason. When people come into your lives, theres no doubt they'll impact you in a way, either way the expiriences will live on through time . Well, some do so much more than we could possibly imagine and change our lives for eternity. Though sometimes things get hard when together, it's always wise to dwell more on the good side of life and remain hopeful in all circumstances. When Mr Joe Peterson came to Kenya  sometime back in 2003 from the United States, theres was an instant urge to serve and step in the gap. Kenya indeed has alot of problems which did'nt take him a minute to identify, poverty, AIDS pandemic and lack of the gospel being some of the core issues particularly in the lake region. I first saw Joe when a group of
